Barbell pads, also known as bar pads and hip thrust pads, are foam pads that are placed around the middle of the barbell. It provides padding and reduce pressure on your body from contact with the heavy barbell.

Bar pads help reduce discomfort from the heavy barbell when it comes in contact with the hops. It also helps keep the barbell in place which helps with stability and ensuring proper form.

Some gyms do offer barbell pads, however, they are limited in quantity and they might not be the best quality.

If you set up properly under the bar you don't need a bar pad. When performing a barbell squat, shrug your traps up when you are under the bar and rest it on those muscles and/or the top of your shoulder blades. This will help take the pressure off your neck spine.
